Taking a Look Back at The Past Thirteen Years: Happy Birthday Sweetie Boy

The world is full of possibilities and ambition, but few are able to take the jump and use their ambition and drive to start a company. One of those few is Tyler McCormick, the owner of Sweetie Boy Transportation. Established in 2010, Sweetie Boy has gone through much growth to get to the point where it is today. As a young boy, Tyler promised his father that he was going to own his own trucking company one day, and as we look back to where everything began thirteen years ago, we are able to see that dream come to fruition. Throughout the past thirteen years, not only has Sweetie Boy, but the world has gone through many changes. From moving headquarter locations, to the addition of new hubs, and even braving a worldwide pandemic, Sweetie Boy has taken on each challenge with a brave face. Sweetie Boy’s first delivery was done on a Ford truck and a three car wedge, and since then the company has not stopped growing.

Currently, Sweetie Boy Transportation has sixty trucks, four 2 Car haulers, five hub locations and over two hundred dedicated employees spread throughout the eastern United States. Earlier this year, Sweetie Boy started settling into its new headquarters location in Richmond, Virginia near the Richmond Raceway. This new headquarters location serves as a home base for the fleet, where drivers can take care of their trucks at the attached shop. CDL drivers meet at the hub for training, and in office operations are also headquartered at this location. This isn’t the first time that Sweetie Boy has developed a new location. Over the past thirteen years, hub locations in Newburgh, NY, Rochester, NY, Cleveland, OH, and Baltimore, MD have been added as a way to expand Sweetie Boy’s delivery abilities. Just as recently as last year, Sweetie Boy added the Newburgh hub to their team. This passion for growth has proven successful, as Sweetie Boy’s team and its abilities continue to grow. Not only has Sweetie Boy grown in its abilities to deliver throughout the eastern United States, but has also expanded to delivering in Canadian territories such as Quebec and Ontario.

As mentioned in a previous blog post, the Sweetie Boy drive that keeps Sweetie Boy driving is the essence of teamwork. Many members of Sweetie Boy’s team have come together to help foster and grow Tyler’s efforts. Lisa Lenharr was a strong proponent of building the AutoPilot team, Michael Skeens has been a strong leader within the CDL team, but most of all, Tyler’s family has been a strong backbone for the development of the company. His wife, Katie McCormick, has stood by as his hard working partner in crime, handling different areas of administrative and accounting duties while also serving as his number one cheerleader. Tyler’s father believed in his drive, and assisted him in starting his own business. Without a doubt, Tyler has learned that good people will help you go far and bring your dreams to reality.

Overall, Sweetie Boy Transportation’s growth over the past thirteen years has been inspiring to watch. Starting as a promise from a young boy to his father, to an ever growing transport company, Sweetie Boy has continued to grow thanks to the people and drive behind it. Without the hard work and dedication behind Tyler’s dreams, Sweetie Boy wouldn’t be where it is today.

Lastly, thank you to Tyler McCormick, all of the drivers, and everyone who has made Sweetie Boy Transportation into the company it has become today. The Sweetie Boy drive to Get Shit Done keeps us all driving.
